So what is a "LANatee"?

The word "LANatee" derives from the word "manatee." Why? In Drew's words, because "manatees are cool...and taste good." One would picture a LANatee as a manatee playing computer games, but this is completely different...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The real LANatee, however, was created for the soul purpose of those tortured souls known as gamers. The people who live silently in our society under the stereotype of "nerd," express themselves in their natural habitat; among peers, who can understand and relate with other tortured souls. It is a support group for gamers. Started in 1928 by Edmund Z. Lanatee, this brilliant society of men is on the leading edge of deciding what is scene, making up pizza toppings and certainly not playing video games. It is needless to say that that members of the LANatee have very little trouble getting ladies into bed with them, because it is a known fact that ladies are into video games and even more so into guys who play video games (but don't take our word for it, ask one some time!)

The LANatee consists of a group of ten core members who have a love for video games and all have varied technical skills. The games that this group plays varies between different LAN fests (a LANatee event) but the longest standing games are: Empire Earth, Age of Kings and Counter-Strike. As mentioned before this group is willing to try all sorts of different games. Some of the games that have been played at previous LAN fests include: Soldat, Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor - Allied Assault, Rome: Total War, Battle for Middle Earth, Call of Duty, iSketch, Halflife 2: Death Match, and Rise of Nations.

LAN fests are usually held once a month, and even though there is a dedicated group of core members usually only involved, there may be opening in the future for more members (so you may be in luck! Keep a close eye for openings!).
